It also does the one thing Midjourney cannot: it accepts an uploaded sketch, massing screenshot or site photo and renders that building.

The Nano Banana Architecture Prompt Formula
Nano Banana responds to prompts written like a photographer’s brief, not a keyword list. Every reliable architecture prompt in this guide follows the same order:
[Shot type] + [building type] + [structure and massing] + [two or three named materials] + [site and context] + [light and time of day] + "photorealistic architectural photography"
Two details carry most of the quality. First, materials with adjectives: "concrete house" produces a grey box, while "board-formed concrete with a cantilevered charred-timber volume" produces something you can put in front of a client. Second, light: name the hour (dusk, golden hour, overcast morning) and where the light comes from (interior glow, raking sun, skylight). Close with "photorealistic architectural photography" rather than "render", which pushes the model toward camera realism instead of CGI gloss.
A third lever when you want a coherent language fast: reference a real architect. "In the spirit of Tadao Ando" or "Kengo Kuma-style layered timber" pulls materials, proportions and mood into alignment in one phrase. Use it for direction, not imitation, and drop it once your own material palette is doing the work.
Unlike Midjourney there are no --ar or --style parameters. Format is controlled with words: open the prompt with "wide-angle photograph", "straight-on elevation photograph", "aerial drone photograph" or "tall vertical composition" and Nano Banana obeys.

What changed in October 2026: Nano Banana 2.1 and Gemini 4 Argon
Google shipped two models in eight days. Nano Banana 2.1 (6 October) is the new default image model and does what used to need Pro: native 4K, up to 14 reference images, and clean panoramic frames. Gemini 4 Argon (13 October) is the new top reasoning model; Google demoed it driving Blender through MCP, but the render itself still comes from Nano Banana. The 40 prompts above run unchanged on 2.1.
Read 14 October 2026 from the Gemini API pricing, the Nano Banana 2.1 model page, the DeepMind model card and Google’s Gemini 4 Argon announcement. Nano Banana 2.1 replaces Nano Banana 2 (Gemini 3.1 Flash Image) at roughly half the price per image. On Google’s own preference tests it scores 1050 for text-to-image against 990 for Nano Banana 2 and 935 for Pro, and 1026 for general editing against 938 and 939. Nano Banana invents. Even with image input it approximates your geometry rather than measuring it, which is perfect for concepts and fatal for anything that needs to be true. Three specific limits to respect: dimensions are decorative, so never scale from an output; consistency drifts across many conversation turns, so save and re-upload your best frame; and for a real, already-built interior it will redraw the room rather than preserve it.

Dimensions, structure and code compliance are invented. Use it for concept boards and visual communication, and keep documentation in CAD or BIM.
